Environmental awareness games to children… and adults

Marine Ecology Seminars and free Discover Scuba courses to the children and adults of Iraklia

We are planning to run a series of events targeted towards the children of the remote islands of the Aegean Sea with the aim of educating and increasing awareness on environmental and conservation issues.

The first one took place in the island of Iraklia, in the Small Cyclades. The environmentalist, Maria Salomidi, conducted a presentation to all the children on our sailing boat, Tahita. The presentation focused on the importance of the endemic plant Poseidonia Oceanica and the wide variety of life that hides and breeds in its leaves. Children were told that clues will be hidden throughout Maria’s presentation that would help them solve the riddles of the game that would follow.

Laughter, loud voices, excitement, lots of running up and down the beach were without dispute proof that the game was a great success. Learning while playing was great fun… for all of us!

And the game begins on board of Tahita…

Maria introducing the wide diversity of the inhabitants of Poseidonia…

Oaring towards the next riddle…

The day ended with a dive…
